Heights of Tide from the charts

We can get a quick estimate for some important tide levels from the chart. On both the training charts you will find Tidal Levels Table (Fig 5.11). Various locations are presented with information about the tidal levels.

You will notice that in the Tidal Levels table, the longitude positions do not give the leading zeros, e.g., 6°W instead of 006°W. These are not mistakes but for printing purposes, to save ink and produce less chart clutter.

We will use the area around Dawson Harbour for the examples below. You will see that tidal levels for Dawson Harbour are only given on the table on RYA Training Chart 4 (Fig 5.12).
