‘Saorsa’ is a Jeanneau Sunfizz 40 and  offers performance and superb handling under sail or power. A large cockpit and sprayhood easily accomodate and keep all the crew safe on a dry boat. There are large cockpit lockers for storage and  generous side decks make getting around easy.  With responsive wheel steering and balanced rudder ‘Saorsa’ is a delight to sail.

Saorsa is coded for 8 people with a versatile layout which offers a  flexible combination of sleeping berths with ample storage areas and lockers. Accommodation comprises of 3 spacious double cabins, plus a double and single or two separate single berths in the main saloon. This can provide up to 7 single berths if the additional saloon sea berths are used. Equipped with 2 heads, one with shower which is also  en-suite to the master cabin.

Galley

The stainless steel worktop galley has a double sink with hot running water, 3 hobbed cooker with oven and extractor fan. To keep things cool there is a large fridge with freezer compartment. The galley is well stocked with utensils and cockery with plenty of useful  space to store provisions and belongings.

Chart Table

The generous chart table is well equipped with nautical charts, an electronic chart plotter, radar, almanacs and crusing guides. Close at hand you will find a full inventory and dedicated saftey locker. Electronic quipment can be charged from standard 12v socket and plugges into mp3 / CD player.  When berthed she has a 240v system with sockets positioned throughough the yacht.

Sails

Saorsa carries a Profurl genoa and slab reefing mainsail. She is equipped with a pole for either the spinnaker or crusing chute. The sails can easily power the vessel which has outstanding pointing capabilities.  She is a sea kindly, fast, dry yacht :)

Mechanics

When Saorsa is not sailing she is powered by a Perkins 4108 engine which drives a two blade prop and pushes the boat at a comfortable 7 knots a 2500 rpm. There is electric windlass to raise and lower the anchor which has 60 metres of chain.

Safety 

Saorsa is built for safety and is fully equipped with life jackets, safety equipment, life raft, and tender with oars and outboard engine. All comply with the MCA (Maritime & Coastguard Agency) Code of Practice for the Safety of Small Commercial Sailing Vessels. As a certified sail training vessel, the yacht, equipment and operating procedures are all subject to stringent annual inspections by the MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency) and RYA (Royal Yachting Association).

Soarsa and any other vessels used by Freedom Sailing are fully insured against accidents and third party liability. However, responsibility is not accepted for personal accidents, damage or loss due to a participant’s negligence.
